It’s one of the moderately modern buildings we chose for ‘Poland from a drone’. The orthodox diocese in Białystok ‘only’ tried to build the church in the city since the 70s of the 20th century.
The cornerstone was set in the beginning of the 80s because it was then, when the authorities allowed adding the church to the zoning plan. The church had one goal from the very beginning – fit as many believers inside as possible. It wasn’t consecrated until 1999 because during the construction process both money and materials required to finish it were missing.
The bell tower seen in the film is as much as 70 metres high.
