The history of Czernica dates back to 14th century when a knight’s seat was probably where the palace stands today. Its history is connected with house Schaffgotsch, the owners of the estate since 1543. Then, renaissance manor with moat around it was built. It was modernised on several occasions later on. Biggest changes took place in the end of 19th century and in early 20th century when the new owner – Friedrich von Klitzing – turned it into a modern residence with central heating and electricity. A landscape park was added around the same time.
The palace is build on U-shape plan and consists of two storeys. Right now it’s a private property, but you can easily visit it and it’s very well preserved. It looks even more impressive from above.
